How did proto comics arrive in Finland and Norway? What do the comic cultures of these two Nordic countries have in common? What did early Norwegian and Finnish comics look like? Ville Hänninen and Kristian Hellesund will discuss these questions in the Merkki event space.
The event languages are Finnish and English. The event is organized by the Finnish Comics Society and is open for everyone interested in comics history.
Kristian Hellesund is a journalist and historian who is currently working on a book about the history of Norwegian comics.
Ville Hänninen is a journalist and author who has written extensively about Finnish comics, illustrations and literature. Last year, he received the E. J. Vehmas Prize for his work as a critic.
